Code of Conduct
Last updated July 3, 2024
In keeping with our mission, and in accordance with the TERMS OF USE, adherence to the following Code of Conduct is required. The site Moderator can remove posts and/or users at any time for any reason.
This page is both site policy and a sample code of ethics. Comments and suggestions about online civility are welcome below.
1. Respect all participants:
- Participate in service of understanding and collaboration — use “yes, and” instead of “no, but.”
- In disagreement, maintain a civil and problem-solving posture.
- Personal attacks, gratuitous profanity, and offensive language are unacceptable.
- Avoid generalizations about social groups and assumptions about individuals. Bigotry is strictly forbidden.
- Critique ideas, not people. Avoid “you” phrases (“you should,” “you don’t”), retorts, and inflammatory language — use your comments to advance and add value to the discussion.
2. Listen/read actively with attention on understanding others’ views, open to learning from their contributions. Comment in order to share information and advance the discussion.
3. Keep your comments on-topic.
4. Use clear, plain language and avoid jargon — it helps everyone understand and contribute.
5. If you’re sharing information, let us know where it’s from. It adds credibility and it’s the right thing to do.
6. Avoid posting the same message more than once.
7. Keep personal information out of the conversation. It’s safer that way.
8. Ask Questions: They lead to great discussions.
Enjoy! Have fun in this place. It’s a great way to connect and learn with others who share your interest in doing the right thing 😊
